Ash (Fraxinus uhdei)
A fast growing, evergreen to semi-evergreen tree that can reach a mature height ranging from 50 to 80 feet with a canopy spread of 40 to 50 feet. As they approach maturity, the trunk diameter can grow as wide as 48 inches. They develop large surface roots that become buttressing roots at the base of the trunk resulting in a very wide trunk flare. Although its roots may grow as deep as 24 inches or more below the soil surface, the majority of roots are usually found just below the soil surface. This species of tree can tolerate the impact of root pruning, however once an Ash tree’s roots have been cut, their stability becomes compromised and they have a high potential to fall over.
